The magnetite filter material is made from natural magnetite ore as the raw material. It is processed through beneficiation, crushing, water washing, screening, and impurity removal. It belongs to high-density heavy filter material and its main component is iron(III) oxide (Fe₃O₄). It has high hardness and a high specific gravity. In multi-layer filtration systems, it serves as the bottom supporting filter material and is often used in combination with anthracite and quartz sand. At the same time, it has certain adsorption capacity and can remove suspended solids, iron ions, and heavy metal impurities from water. It is commonly used as a pad layer filter material in V-shaped filter tanks, pressure filters, and high-speed filtration systems. Magnetite filter material is suitable for pipe-type high-resistance water distribution systems. In three-layer filter tanks, it is usually combined with anthracite filter material and quartz sand filter material, which is currently a better mixing procedure. During backwashing, it is not easily mixed, and it has good adaptability for improving the supporting layer and water distribution system. It is an indispensable filter material in multi-layer filter tanks, with a filtration speed of up to 30-40 meters per hour. Additionally, it has obvious effects on iron removal, manganese removal, and fluoride removal. It is widely used in water supply and drainage, metallurgy, power, chemical industry, petroleum, environmental protection, light textile, papermaking, leather manufacturing, and other fields. It has played a significant role in improving the quality of drinking water, high-purity water purification, industrial wastewater treatment, and extending the lifespan of water supply equipment.
