The polyacrylamide used for sludge dewatering is a water-soluble polymer of high molecular weight. Due to the presence of a certain number of polar groups in its molecular chain, it can adsorb the suspended solid particles in water, enabling particle bridging or particle coagulation through charge neutralization to form large flocs. Therefore, it can accelerate the sedimentation of particles in the suspension, significantly enhancing the clarity of the solution, promoting filtration, etc. It is mainly used for the flocculation and sedimentation of various industrial wastewater, such as wastewater from steel mills, electroplating plants, metallurgical plants, coal washing plants, etc., for wastewater treatment and sludge dewatering. It can also be used for the clarification and purification treatment of drinking water.Polyacrylamide is used for pre-treatment of sludge for sludge dewatering, which can change the physicochemical properties of the surface of sludge particles, destroy the colloidal structure of sludge, reduce the affinity of sludge particles to water, and accordingly improve the dewatering performance of sludge. The common method to improve the dewatering performance of sludge is chemical adjustment. Before sludge dewatering, chemical admixtures are added for conditioning, so that charged inorganic or organic chemicals react with the sludge.
